Buddhist Funeral Services

A peaceful, respectful farewell guided by Buddhist customs — arranged with care so your family can focus on prayer and remembrance.

What We Arrange

Buddhist Funeral, Handled With Care

A Buddhist wake and funeral is a time for prayer, reflection and merit-making. We take care of the practical side, from collecting your loved one to setting up the wake and altar, so your family can spend these days in peace.

Rites differ from one temple and family to another. We begin by asking how your family wishes to observe them, then arrange the prayers and timings to match.

Understanding a Buddhist Funeral

Prayer, Merit and Remembrance

In Buddhism, death is seen as a transition rather than an end, and a funeral is a chance to offer prayers and make merit on behalf of the departed. The ceremonies are meant to comfort the family, and to wish the one who has passed a peaceful path ahead.

Practices vary between traditions, temples and families, but a Buddhist funeral in Singapore commonly includes:

  • Chanting of sutras by monks, usually on one or more evenings of the wake
  • Offerings of incense, flowers, fruit and light as acts of respect
  • Prayers and merit-making by the family together with the monks
  • Rites to guide and bless the departed
  • A final prayer before the cremation or burial

If you are unsure about any part of the ceremony, tell us. We will explain what to expect and help you decide what is right for your family.
